John Mastromonaco

As Vice President, Environmental Health & Safety, John Mastromonaco oversees all environmental, health, and safety operations at Southland. He is responsible for the implementation, development, and improvement of the company-wide environmental health and safety program.
With over 20 years of career experience and 9 years of experience at Southland, John is focused on keeping employees safe while improving the quality of life for our people. John previously served as Southland's Northwest Division Safety Director and has a wealth of expertise in construction safety and management across multiple market segments as well as safety leadership experience for both general and mechanical contractors.
During his tenure at Southland, he has focused on employee empowerment and mentorship while maintaining a culture of safety on projects. Through his leadership, he helps teams stay proactive by developing leading indicators to present data in a meaningful way to educate decision makers in the field. Specifically, in 2020, John helped Southland achieve zero recordable injuries.
John received his bachelor's degree in safety and environmental management from Slippery Rock University. He is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals and has spent six years on the board of directors for SafeBuild Alliance.
