Overview

Spanning over 1 million square feet, this new 164-megawatt (MW) data center campus in Goodyear, Arizona is part of an ongoing data center development series in the region.

The facility includes data halls and essential support spaces such as offices, conference rooms, loading docks, and break rooms. The data halls feature a closed loop, air-cooled chilled water system with computer room air handling units (CRAHs) and waterside economizers, ensuring efficient cooling performance.

Our Approach

We are providing design-build mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection services for this campus. The project has required fast-paced turnovers across multiple configurations, including 8 MW and 16 MW options.

To support the facility's cooling demands, we installed over 20 miles of piping, enabling a total cooling capacity of over 96,000 tons. We also optimized CRAH connections to reduce labor and material costs, improving installation. To enhance power usage effectiveness (PUE), we designed air-cooled chiller canopies that minimize recirculation. Additionally, we reconfigured corridors to streamline fit-up installation and interconnected superloop chilled water plants, increasing overall system performance. We also improved generator layouts, ensuring reliability during peak demand conditions.

Result

As of February 2025, this project has achieved 2 million labor hours onsite without a recordable or lost-time incident, marking over 2.5 years of recordable-free work. This milestone has been recognized by both the owner and general contractor, reinforcing our commitment to safety.
