Overview

The renovation of this semiconductor manufacturing facility encompassed the transformation of two data halls, six laboratories, and office spaces to provide Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) — a global leader in semiconductor technology — with state-of-the-art infrastructure and cutting-edge technology.

Extensive structural steel upgrades were implemented to reinforce the facility's original shell, supporting the new infrastructure requirements. Additionally, a central plant was constructed to enhance the facility's operational capabilities.

Our Approach

The Building Information Modeling (BIM) team was instrumental from project kickoff, ensuring a successful build through precision and foresight. Using a FARO scan of the existing structure, we captured a highly detailed view of the facility's interior conditions, allowing for seamless integration of new construction elements and preempting potential issues.

A unique highlight of this project was the custom-engineered, liquid-cooled server rack system — designed to enhance both performance and energy efficiency for AMD's demanding computational needs. Midway through the project, a reclaim system was needed, requiring rapid adaptation from our BIM team. We skillfully rerouted existing plans to incorporate the new system, ensuring the project remained on schedule.

Result

The completion of this project exemplifies our dedication to delivering innovative solutions in the advanced technology sector. The teamwork and adaptability of our team was vital in transforming this facility, aligning it with the cutting-edge standards expected by leaders in the industry.

This project was completed by Brandt, a Southland Industries company.
