Overview

Located in San Bernardino, California, the newly renovated SAC Health – Brier Campus is set to support over 300,000 patient visits within the next 5 years.

This former office building has been transformed into a state-of-the-art medical campus, featuring 158,000 square feet of space dedicated to clinical, dental, behavioral health, and primary and specialty care services. Additionally, it includes 88,000 square feet for non-clinical staff, 30,000 square feet for express care, and a 4,000-square-foot community center. Spanning a 14.5-acre site, the 5-story facility totals over 280,000 square feet. To ensure convenient access for staff and patients, the campus will also feature two parking structures.

Our Approach

We were responsible for the design, coordination, fabrication, and installation of the HVAC wet and dry systems, as well as the plumbing systems, for this new medical facility. With a complex design, a fast-moving schedule, and limited space, the team worked closely with other trades to fit all necessary systems.

Since each floor had little loading space and onsite storage was tight, prefabrication was planned down to the inch, with duct and pipe spools arriving just in time for installation. Using Stratus, the team stayed organized, avoided miscommunication, and tracked fabrication progress in real time.

Result

Despite these challenges, we completed the project on schedule while maintaining a strong safety record. Opened in 2025, this facility enhances access to SAC Health System's clinic services and expands the reach of its community center. Additionally, it contributes to the region's workforce by adding over 200 healthcare professionals and support staff.
