Prioritizing HVAC replacements & upgrades through energy modeling

Location

Overview

While assisting long-time service client Peirce College through the capital budgeting process, Southland developed a prioritized list of HVAC replacements and upgrades based on condition and lifecycle cost.

Our Approach

Through energy modeling, the Southland team presented an energy cost-savings that completely funded the initial cost of the project. The retrofit project included a boiler plant upgrade, heat pump replacements, and a new building automation system, as well as additional replacements and upgrades for aging equipment.

Result

Southland successfully engineered, built, and commissioned each piece of the project. In total, Southland obtained over $20,000 of PECO Act 129 rebates on behalf of the owner. The project was completed on time and on budget, without a single change order request. Following project completion, we continuously provide Peirce College ongoing energy monitoring to ensure that pre-project expectation is met.
