Overview
Located minutes from Los Angeles International Airport inside a historic 1940s airplane hangar that once housed Howard Hughes' famed H-4 Hercules, Google's Spruce Goose campus provides a dynamic office space for hundreds of Google and YouTube employees.
This project included the challenging construction of a four-story "building within a building" inside the existing airplane hangar structure.
Our Approach
Southland's scope included a building automation system, an integrated smoke control system, commissioning controls, and a mechanical preventative maintenance service agreement.
Advising the owner to allow Delta Controls as an alternative to the current system, Southland's solution-focused approach was a major contributing factor to delivering a fully functional system on schedule that allowed for the owner to receive the certificate of occupancy on time.
Result
Our approach and overall project success led Southland to secure service agreements for both the controls and mechanical systems and later being awarded the second phase construction of the soundstage and YouTube studio.
