Overview

As the nation's only soil-based indoor farming company, this facility's automated indoor farm introduced 100,000 square feet of production space with 6 vertical growing layers, significantly increasing Soli Organic Inc.'s capacity.

The award-winning project leverages a six-level tray structure, which maximizes both vertical and horizontal space for optimized crop yields. Unlike traditional single-layer greenhouses, Soli's approach not only increases output but also uses 90 percent less water than conventional farming methods. The farm produces a variety of salad greens and organic herbs through a soil-based growing system enhanced with robotic automation and precise environmental controls, ensuring ideal conditions for each crop.

Our Approach

The success of this project was driven by effective coordination among the project teams. Led by Joeris General Contractors, the construction of Soli Organic's facility was described as a box within a box due to the different environmental requirements of each growing room.

Our role in executing the electrical aspects of this complex build further demonstrates our ability to manage high-tech, precision projects. We installed underground electrical duct banks and secondary electrical feeders to serve the new pump house, as well as providing electrical infrastructure for booster pumps, ductile iron piping, and interconnecting systems that treat the water before it enters the storage tanks.

Result

The high-tech vertical farm is already delivering some of the company's best yields to date, providing fresh, organic produce grown locally in Texas. This strategic expansion enables Soli Organic to meet increasing demand while offering retailers and consumers top-quality produce with a reduced environmental footprint.

This project was completed by Brandt, a Southland Industries company.
