Garden Grove, CA – The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has named Curtis Harbour, Vice President of Labor Relations for Southland Industries, as President. The appointment was announced at the 2026 MCAA Annual Convention held in March.
This presidency comes at a time when the reshoring of domestic manufacturing and the sustained rise of hyperscale data center construction are reshaping the speed and methods in which contractors deliver projects, and the workforce required to support them.
In this role, Curtis is focused on preparing contractors and skilled tradespeople to capitalize on that momentum through expanding contractor education, strengthening the partnership between MCAA and the United Association (UA), and advancing skilled trades workforce development. This includes encouraging joint recruiting efforts between contractors and unions to attract more individuals to the skilled trades and address the industry's growing labor shortage.
"Over the course of the past 35 years, I have seen firsthand the opportunities this industry creates for skilled trades professionals," Curtis said. "In this role, I look forward to drawing on the knowledge and experience I have gained at Southland and MCAA to position our members for what is ahead and provide them with the tools and resources they need to develop the workforce to meet it."

At Southland, Curtis leads labor relations with trade union partners and associations at the local, regional, and national levels, reflecting the company's commitment to strong union partnerships as the foundation for delivering complex MEP projects across the country.
Curtis has been an active MCAA member since completing the MCAA Advanced Leadership Institute in 2006 and the Advanced Leadership Institute Graduate Program in 2016. He has also served as president of MCA Texas, MCA Dallas, MCA Houston, and Houston Sheet Metal Contractors.
