Garden Grove, CA – Aligned with Southland's commitment to provide career opportunities and a people first culture, Southland Industries recently announced its second official People First Resource Group, Early Careers.
Southland's People First Resource Groups (PFRGs) support employees across the company, promote employee engagement, and drive personal and professional development at all employee levels. As employee-identity or experienced-based network groups, Southland's PFRGs are volunteer-based and are open to all employees. Providing resources, support, and advocacy, the PFRGs create dedicated spaces through groups to develop, learn, network, and socialize. Specifically, the PFRGs are designed to nurture talent, cultivating future leaders while overall strengthening Southland.
The Early Careers PFRG is a dedicated initiative focused on supporting and empowering team members in the early phases of their career, helping to grow the next generation of leaders from within by providing professional and personal development, organization-wide networking opportunities, and access to leadership. By fostering a collaborative network of peers and advocates, promoting continuous learning, and nurturing a culture of belonging, the Early Careers PFRG aims to elevate the voices of early career professionals and empower them to thrive as integral contributors.
"The Early Careers People First Resource Group supports a key demographic of our workforce for those who are just starting in their careers. At Southland, we empower employees at all levels to design and develop their own careers, and this group provides the encouragement and empowerment to capitalize on early career opportunities and experiences that not only serve as the foundation to their career, but will be tools and experiences they will rely on throughout their career," said Jim Meacham, Regional President, and executive co-sponsor of the Early Careers People First Resource Group.
The Early Careers People First Resource Group was recently announced during a company fireside chat featuring Chief Human Resources Officer Lisa Starr and the Mid-Atlantic Division's Operations Manager Ashley Hayes. The fireside chat coincided with Construction Inclusion Week.
Dan Heichelbech, Regional President, and executive co-sponsor of the Early Careers People First Resource Group, shared, "Supporting our team members that are early in their careers is another way we ensure our future success. By leveraging the knowledge and expertise of our tenured leaders, we can kick-start that success for many just starting or growing their future here at Southland."
