A healthy team culture where members see each other as peers and respect each other on projects is the foundation for optimal success, explains Jessica Kelley, Operational Excellence Manager at Southland Industries. An expert in Lean methodology, Kelley believes that empowering project teams to make informed and successful decisions relies on the team members, and the need to recognize each other for who they are and the uniqueness they contribute to the team. "To make Lean projects successful, we need to onboard team members to explain and then show them what is different this time," said Kelley. "In other words, we need to do a better job training them with behavior and leadership skills that are critical to making the process and project successful."
