Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) introduces high school students to rewarding, living-wage careers in the skilled trades. This summer, we're proud to host the first-ever HMSE camp in Texas at our San Antonio office.

With 53 camps taking place across the country, this is HMSE's biggest summer yet. Thanks to the generosity of host contractors and industry sponsors, the program is free for students to attend.

"We're excited to bring HMSE to Texas and give students an opportunity to explore careers in the skilled trades," Angie Simon, Executive Director and Co-Founder of HMSE, said.

From June 16 to 20, we're welcoming 10 students from the San Antonio area for a week of hands-on learning and exploration, including:

  • Fabrication shop projects
  • Tours of Local Union 142 and Local Union 67
  • A jobsite visit
  • A graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements

"Getting involved in programs like HMSE is one way we help shape the future of our industry. We believe in giving young people the tools, exposure, and support they need to pursue meaningful careers in the trades," Oscar Garza, Senior Vice President and General Manager of San Antonio, said.
