Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) in Las Vegas
Presented by Southland Industries, The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) of Southern Nevada, The Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) of Las Vegas, McCarthy Building Companies, and Cerris Systems
Sponsored by Heavy Metal Summer Experience
Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) introduces high school students to rewarding, living-wage careers in the skilled trades. With 53 camps taking place across the country, this is HMSE's biggest summer yet. Thanks to the generosity of host contractors and industry sponsors, the program is free for students to attend.
From June 23 to 27, Southland Industries partnered with industry peers to support 24 students from the Las Vegas area in a week of hands-on learning. The program focused on safety, the construction process, and what it takes to succeed in the field.
Damon Wildmon, General Foreman, Matt Chadwick, Superintendent, Stefan Rizzo, Constructability Manager, and Ed Miller, Contract Executive, led presentations throughout the week, including one featuring McCarthy Building Companies, who shared insights into a Las Vegas strip renovation project where we are currently performing fire protection installations.
