DBIA Western Pacific Region Amplify Voices Podcast
Jose Felsmann, Director of Business Development and Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA)-Western Pacific Region (WPR) Board Member, was featured on an episode of the Amplify Voices Podcast hosted by DBIA-WPR. The Amplify Voices Podcast highlights the people behind integrated delivery of challenging projects in the design and construction industry, exploring how they navigate collaboration and teaching and learning opportunities on their teams.
On this podcast, Jose discussed how he's approached implementing Lean principles to bring value to project planning, and how IPD Lean thinking principles differentiates itself from traditional design-build principles. Jose also touched on the need for more effective collaboration in project delivery, such as engaging trade partners into the design-build process early on, and the importance of project teams maintaining a solutions-focused mindset.
"Traditionally, with design-build lump sum, at the end of the day, I have a contract. But in a more IPD, Lean thinking way, I'm not as protected. I care about your scope of work too," Jose explains.
