Southland Industries Awarded San Francisco International Airport Terminal

Union City, CA – Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest MEP building systems experts providing engineering, construction, service and energy service solutions, was recently awarded the Terminal One Boarding Area B reconstruction project at the San Francisco International Airport. In conjunction with joint venture partners Austin Commercial and Webcor, the design-build project team includes HKS Architects and Cupertino Electric.

Totaling 500,000 square feet, the boarding area will include 24 new gates, as well as more than 100,000 square feet of concessions area that will service about 6.8 million passengers each year. Southland's scope of work includes the design and construction for all HVAC and plumbing systems throughout the new terminal. Additionally, through continuous collaboration among Southland's design engineers and constructability group, the project's design model will reach LOD 500 BIM model upon completion of the project. The construction will be executed in phases in order to keep a portion of the airport operating regularly and ensure uninterrupted passenger movement.

With a goal of LEED Platinum, the design phase is set to begin in February 2016 and construction will commence in July 2016. Overall project completion is slated for September 2020.
