Overview

The Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital Addition features a brand-new three-story building, spanning 58,000 square feet and boasting 40 beds in private patient rooms, 2 operating rooms, a gastroenterology room and endoscopy, as well as 20 intensive care unit beds and 11 post-anesthesia care unit bays. With the region's demand for patient care services on the rise, the new addition will help the hospital keep pace while also creating opportunities for new programs, technology, and innovations.

The building also includes a prefabricated, panelized exterior skin system, making it the first California Department of Health Care Access and Information project to feature this innovative design element. This system offers a higher-quality finish compared to traditional lathe and plaster exteriors and cut four months off the construction schedule.

Our Approach

Southland provided mechanical services, including design-assist HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems for the new addition. The project required reviewed sizing and routing of every system for California's Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) and constructability.

Result

By implementing best practices, such as collaboration and effective communication, with California's OSHPD, HerreroBoldt, Sutter Health, and Stantec, our team overcame challenges due to COVID-19, helping to deliver this project on time and on budget.
