Overview
The River People Health Center is a community of care dedicated to the physical, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness of all Native people. The 3-story, 195,000 square foot health center is oriented around four peaks, Red Mountain, South Mountain, Papago Buttes, and Camelback Mountain, providing a sense of comfort and healing for the community. The ambulatory outpatient clinic provides primary care, pediatrics, dental, psychiatry, behavioral health, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, full laboratory, and other services.
Our Approach
Southland was tasked with installing the mechanical infrastructure for a central utility building. The scope of the project included the installation of a 1,200-ton packaged central plant, chilled water systems, central station air handlers, laboratory exhaust systems, domestic and storm plumbing, medical gas systems, and commissioning. To meet the project schedule, Southland took the initiative to build out the central utility building in advance, prefabricating all mechanical piping rather than purchasing a prefabricated central plant, which reduced the overall construction timeline.
Result
The project was completed on time, exceeding client expectations and providing a reliable, efficient mechanical system for the facility. Southland's extensive experience and attention to detail ensured the success of the project, and the innovative approach allowed Southland to meet the unique challenges posed by the construction schedule.
