National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Innovation Overload Podcast

Eric Spaeth, Director of Preconstruction, was featured on an episode of the NECA Innovation Overload podcast, alongside Todd Grossweiler, Executive Vice President at Allison-Smith. Recorded during the NECA 2024 Conference & Tradeshow, they discussed how early planning, prefabrication, and cross-functional collaboration enable construction teams "do more with less." This episode emphasized the role of BIM schedules in guiding prefabrication and the need for close coordination with project managers and superintendents.

He stressed that pre-planning and hands-on training in the fabrication shop are essential for new hires and field employees to gain practical experience before arriving on the jobsite. Additionally, Eric shared the importance of breaking down silos between estimating, operations, and field teams, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors to keep projects running smoothly.

"We're in a relationship business. It is a hundred percent the relationships that get us through each day. Working through problems, you know, we're essentially problem solvers on a daily basis. That relationship, if you don't have that connection with somebody, it's tough to find common ground and get through," Eric said.
