The SST program implements energy-saving projects at facilities and uses the expenses saved from the energy reduction and maintenance costs to pay for the design and construction of the projects.
Penn Medicine’s Pavilion Marks a Healthcare First with LEED Gold Building Certification for Sustainability
Penn Medicine’s new Pavilion on the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s campus has broken new ground for sustainable healthcare construction and design with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The 17-story, future-ready patient facility is the largest certified project in the world to achieve Gold certification or higher in LEED v4 Healthcare.
Hensel Phelps, in partnership with Southland Industries’ Mid-Atlantic Division, was presented with the Excellence in Teaming Award by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) for their work on the Washington Convention Center Alternate Care Facility. The Excellence in Teaming Award recognizes exemplary applications of design-build done right that, at a minimum, resulted in highly successful design-build projects, achieving best value while meeting design and construction quality, cost, and schedule goals.
Southland Industries’ Mid-Atlantic Division, Mack Global Engineering, M.C. Dean Inc., Performance Contracting, and Procter & Gamble Company were presented with the Project Excellence Award by Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) for their work on a Swiffer project. The Project Excellence Award recognizes the best project teams for outstanding delivery of capital projects. CURT's goal is to promote project delivery excellence while standardizing productivity metrics that indicate exceptional performance.
