Las Vegas, NV

Southland Industries’ Southwest Division was awarded the Las Vegas Convention Visitors Authority (LVCVA) Fire Sprinkler Upgrade project for the north and central halls of the convention center. This Design-Build project is scheduled to begin design right away and will cover 1,048,900 square feet of convention space. The contract was won through a competitive RFP process in which Southland was given the highest score of six different contractor’s submissions by the reviewing committee. Southland received a unanimous decision by the LVCVA board which included Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman.
Southland will perform the demolition of the existing sprinkler system as well as the installation of twenty six zones of new high density sprinkler systems over a two year period. The work will be performed while keeping the existing systems functioning until they are approved to be switched over. The LVCVA project is slated to be completed by the end of 2012, and Southland’s ability to provide flexible scheduling will allow the Convention Center to operate during construction with minimal disruptions.
