Dulles, VA

The Mid-Atlantic Division of Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest mechanical design-build engineering and construction firms, recently hosted its 3rd Annual Tee Off for Charity golf tournament. The tournament was held at Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia and donations were split between the USO Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) and the Southland Industries Scholarship fund. The tournament attracted a full field of 144 participants and raised over $68,600 for charity.
Southland chose USO-Metro to receive half of the proceeds based on their commitment to the men and women of our nation's Armed Forces. Southland's Mid-Atlantic Division Leader Mike Miller stated, "It's a great pleasure to be a part of the Mid-Atlantic region's military healthcare construction for over the past three years. To design and build this type of work knowing that we're supplying our armed forces with world class facilities gives extra meaning to these projects." Miller added that "with help from our sponsors, being able to raise a few dollars and give back to our military families is just a small token of our appreciation for their much deeper sacrifices."
"The USO's role is to do the little things to boost morale and let our nation's service men and women know they are supported and appreciated," said Elaine Rogers, president of the USO of Metropolitan Washington. "The continued generosity of the community makes it possible for USO-Metro to serve the troops and their families, and we are truly grateful to Southland Industries for its support of USO-Metro's many programs and services for the more than 500,000 active duty military in the National Capital Region."
Plans are already in the works for next year's tournament and Southland would like to personally thank our generous sponsors for making this year's event a success. Event sponsors included: Ferguson Enterprises, Clark Construction, Capitol Controls, Carrier, TBN/TRA, Chesapeake Systems, Air Cleaning Technologies, and DMR-HVAC.
