Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest MEP building systems experts providing engineering, construction, service and energy service solutions, was recently awarded the Loma Linda Campus Transformation project in conjunction with joint venture partners Murray Company and Pan Pacific. In addition to MPS Mechanical Contractors a JV, the design-assist project team working for owner Loma Linda Medical Center includes NBBJ Architects, Arup, McCarthy Building Companies, Berg-Helix Electric and joint venture NGI/Standard.
Totaling 940,000 square feet, the new, state-of-the-art acute care medical facility will focus on children’s care. The five-story diagnostic and treatment facility with an affixed five-story children’s tower and nine-story adult tower will include over 20 operating rooms and departments like intensive care, pediatric intensive care, emergency, as well as labor and delivery. Located in California, the new building will meet all current and future seismic standards through 2030.
With a goal of LEED Silver certification, the project ‘s design phase will begin in June 2015. Construction is expected to commence in January 2017, and overall project completion is anticipated by January 2020.
