Southland Engineering, a division of Southland Industries, was recently awarded the new Atlanta Falcons Stadium project in Atlanta, Georgia. The design-assist project team includes 360 Architecture, joint venture Hunt/Holder/Russell/Moody and the Atlanta Stadium Partners. As part of the Atlanta Stadium Partners joint venture group, which includes TDIndustries and ARS Mechanical Services, Southland will provide mechanical services for the project.
The new 1.8 million square foot state-of-the-art stadium with a retractable roof will replace the Georgia Dome as the home venue for the Atlanta Falcons. Once completed, the new multipurpose stadium will provide permanent seating for 66,000 to 72,000 NFL fans, with the ability to expand to 80,000 for marquee events such Super Bowls and World Cup Soccer final matches.
With the design phase currently underway, construction is scheduled to begin in August 2014 and overall project completion is anticipated in 2017.
