BIM Handoff from Design to Construction
Clients are attempting to capture BIM criteria in their facilities
through contracting language. This presentation will explore
the current ability of the software to achieve the goals expressed
by the evolving BIM standards. We will attempt to
bring the BIM standards into focus for Users and Owners so that
contracting language can reflect the desired results.
Mr Winkler, P.E., CPD, CEM is entering his 9th year as Principal Engineer with
Southland Industries (SI) in the Mid Atlantic Division. As Principal Engineer,
Mr. Winkler oversees the divisions design, cadd and energy analysis teams. Prior
to working with SI, he worked for 5 years as a civilian design engineer for the
Navy, and held various positions in a local A&E consulting firm for 12 years. His
current position allows him to see the design deliverable requirements associated
with BIM criteria, and the construction requirements associated with SI’s
sheet metal and piping fabrication shop as part of their Design Build Delivery
method.
