Irvine, CA (August 27, 2009)---Southland Industries, one of the nation’s largest mechanical Design-Build engineering and construction firms, today announced the election of Peter Pobjoy, Chief Design Officer of the firm, to its Board of Directors. The announcement was made by Andrew A. Fimiano, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board.

Peter’s contributions will help ensure that we remain ahead of the competition” added Fimiano.
Southland Industries, founded in 1949, provides full design, construction, fabrication, service and maintenance for HVAC, process piping, plumbing, fire protection, controls and automation.
Pobjoy joined Southland Industries in 1995 as the firm's Chief of Design responsible for the growth and direction of Southland’s engineering resources as well as leading the conceptual design on large and complex projects.
His experience includes the design of acute care hospitals, research laboratories, mission critical facilities, institutional buildings, central utility plants, hotels and casinos. Pobjoy has a particular depth of expertise bringing innovation to all aspects of the design focusing on energy efficiency and sustainability.
He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1980 with degrees in both mathematics and mechanical engineering.Pobjoy is a registered mechanical engineer in the State of California and a LEED Accredited Professional. He is an active member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Mr. Pobjoy and his family reside in Rancho Palo Verdes, California.
