Southland Industries Mid-Atlantic Division Golf Tournament Raises $31,500 for Charity
Dulles, Va (October 5, 2009)---The Mid-Atlantic Division of Southland Industries, one of the nation’s largest mechanical design-build engineering and construction firms, recently hosted a golf tournament, attracting a full field of 144 participants, and that raised $31,500 for charity.
Former Washington Redskin Brian Mitchell and his playing partners JR Deweese, Scott Fruend and Ron Hunt were winners of this inaugural event that was hosted at the Raspberry Falls Golf Course in Leesburg, Va.
Charities receiving the Southland Industries golf event funds include Operation Homefront, (http://www.operationhomefront.net), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing emergency and morale assistance to members of the U.S. armed forces and their families, and the Southland Industries Scholarship Fund that offers cash scholarships to qualifying children of Southland Industries employees to attend college or trade schools.
"This tournament was the first ever for this region," said Mike Miller, Southland Industries Mid-Atlantic division leader and who lead the efforts for the sol out event. "The enthusiasm and generosity of our sponsors and all those who came out for a great day of golf was gratifying and certainly gives us 'food for thought' for hosting a similar golf tournament in the coming year."
