Design Build Institute of America Recognizes Southland Projects
The Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Western Pacific Region presented Southland Industries with two awards at the fourth annual Design-Build Competition. To qualify for a Western Pacific Region DBIA award, projects must be successfully performed using design-build methodology. Projects must also demonstrate early collaboration among trades during preconstruction and design, as well as contractual acceptance of single-entity risk within the design-build team. Furthermore, winning projects must exhibit advanced and innovative applications of total integrated project delivery while finding unique solutions for project challenges.
Southland’s Golden West Community College project received a Merit Award in the Design-Build Rehabilitation/ Renovation/ Restoration category. The DBIA Merit Award is awarded to projects that signify excellent implementation of design-build techniques meeting or exceeding the owner’s expectations. Southland’s Las Positas/ Chabot project received an Excellence Award for Southland’s successful analysis of design-build strategies which resulted in a unique application of teaming that exceeded the owner’s needs.
Congratulations to Southland’s Southern and Northern California Divisions for their hard work on these outstanding projects!
About DBIA
The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) is a membership organization founded in 1993 to advocate and advance single source project delivery within the design and construction community. The design-build method of project delivery embraces architecture/engineering and construction services under a single contract, thereby re-integrating the roles of designer and constructor. DBIA members include practitioners from all project phases, plus public- and private-sector project owners.
