Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest MEP building systems experts providing engineering, construction, service and energy service solutions, was recently awarded the Valley Health System Henderson Hospital in Henderson, Nevada. In addition to Southland, the integrated design-build project team working for owner Universal Health Systems includes HMC Architects, Turner and SR Construction, Berg Electric, and Amfab Steel.
Totaling 244,000 square feet, the new 142-bed hospital will serve as the cornerstone of the first healthcare-centered community, called Union Village. In addition to the hospital, the project scope includes development of a 30-acre site. Through integrated project delivery, Southland will provide mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and controls services.
With a goal of LEED certification, the project is currently in design. The construction phase is expected to commence in April 2015, and overall project completion is anticipated by fall 2016.
