Dulles, VA

Southland Industries, one of the nation's largest design-build mechanical contractors, recently hosted its 4th Annual Tee-Off for Charity Golf Tournament. The Mid-Atlantic Division of Southland held the tournament on September 20th at Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Virginia with proceeds going toward the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro). The tournament attracted 144 participants and raised more than $60,000.

Southland chose USO-Metro as the single beneficiary of the tournament's proceeds due to the their strong commitment to the men and women of our nation's Armed Forces. Southland's Mid-Atlantic Division Leader Mike Miller stated, "It's been great to continue this relationship with the USO Metro for another year. Having been a part of the construction of several of the new military healthcare facilities in this region, we've been able to see the impact that organizations like the USO have on our military families." Miller added, "With help from our sponsors, being able to raise money for the USO so that they can creatively find new ways to support the needs of these families is something that we look forward to each fall."

"The USO's role is to do the little things to boost morale and let our nation's service men and women know they are supported and appreciated—especially those living in the Washington-Baltimore region," stated Elaine Rogers, President and CEO of USO-Metro. "Without the support of companies like Southland Industries, we simply could not do our job of lifting the spirits of America's troops and their families," said Rogers. "We're extremely grateful for their generosity and continued support military members."

Southland Industries recognizes the tournament sponsors who helped support the USO-Metro and make this substantial donation possible: (Platinum Level) Ferguson, Victaulic, Chesapeake Systems, and Clark Construction; (Gold Level) TBN/TRA, Air Cleaning Technologies, SJ Rafferty, Carrier, Johnson Controls, DMR HVAC, Capital Controls, G&M Services, and Milwaukee Tool.
