Along with various speaking engagements and teaching opportunities at select universities throughout the school year, Southland participates in the annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 6 & 7 Competition held in Sparks, Nevada.Through a coalition of peers, we sponsor the competitive Mechanical Problem at the competition.

Lean is one of the most important trends sweeping through our industry today. The Lean Construction Institute recently received the Henry C. Turner Prize from the National Building Museum for Innovation in Construction for the positive effects it has had on projects and processes within our industry. By following a few basic steps, it is possible to improve our projects and businesses to create safer, more effective workplaces for everyone involved.

The term “BIM” is traditionally used to describe building information modeling, but the definition of this term can vary depending on who is defining it. To some people, BIM may immediately bring to mind 3D modeling, while it may mean the coordination process and virtual clash detection between different disciplines to others. Though these processes and related technologies are certainly part of BIM, they do not represent the full potential of a holistic BIM strategy on their own.
